Wrap-Up an After School Snack
Children are more likely to eat what they've helped prepare. So why not let them make a healthy wrap rather than grabbing a handful of chips or cookies as an after school snack.
Wraps are for everyone, whether you're a first-time cook, a working mom in a hurry or a kid fixing an after-school snack. It’s easy, you can use chapattis or flour tortillas for your wrap. What you put inside is up to you or your child – the possibilities are endless.
Let your child select the ingredients, a slice of their favorite cheese, any lean deli meat, pickles, tomatoes or other favorites. In the end, your child has helped make a snack that is filled with lean protein and veggies!
These recipes are for four people. If you don’t need this much, just reduce the quantities accordingly. If you make the full amount, there will be enough wraps for the whole family and you can freeze what you don’t use. Wraps are best eaten chilled, so a good way of keeping them cool in the lunchbox is to include a frozen carton of fruit juice.
Try one of Kretschmar’s wrap recipes below, they’re easy to prepare will help get your kids involved in making their own lunch.
